Oceanhead Meditation
The ocean is in constant motion and change. What causes all this change cannot be seen: wind, gravity, underwater landscape. This is how God works in our lives: we can only see the effect of the invisible forces moving through our lives.
I made these images with using a large format camera (4x5 or 8x10) and created platinum prints from the digitally edited negatives. Most of the images were made in the fall or winter of 2004 when I first moved down to Rhode Island. It was a period of tremendous joy and stress in my life. Making art in collaboration with a volatile subject made sense to me at the time. There is beauty in all things.
